The family structure for immigrants

Hey everybody it's me again here to tell you what I have been learning in class this week. What I want to talk about is the family Dynamic. Specifically, I am going to talk about the change in the family Dynamics when A Mexican family moves to America. I read a study called “The Costs of getting Ahead: Mexican family system changes after Immigration” by Martica L. Bacallao and Paul R. Smokowski. The Costs of Getting Ahead, from Smith, et al.pdf   here’s the link if you want to read. Now in here they don’t have a large group of participants, so this is not to make 100% or highly likely what is every Mexican immigrant(s) will turn out. we just want to look at the family structure that changed in these families. One of the things that I found shocking was when I was reading and there was when a woman named Diovelina (a mother) that said that she came to America not for herself but for her children to have better opportunity. For a lot of participants that told the researchers that man...

Marriage and Families in America

Marriage and family in America are what I will be going through today. Most of what I learned this was I found while reading marriage and families laurer& laurer. I will be referring to this document a lot so I wanted to let y’all know and you can look it up here   chapter .pdf . Now some things that I learned from the PDF follow the learning objectives of the PDF. Now one of the first things that I will share is that human beings are social creatures that need to make connections. Not only do we need to be connected to people but also, we are going to look at the changing patterns of close relationships in contemporary society. And explain why some marriages can last with some couples. When I was reading in the PDF one of the first things that surprised me. Was what they talked about loneliness. Usually when some people might feel lonely is after a breakup or moving to a new location. Now those that have longer times of loneliness according to the PDF. May be certain i...

The Family Trends

Hey guys Jacob Todd here and I will be posting about families. Now the topics that I want to discuss is The Trends that we are seeing with the family. So, I watched a video called “The New Economic Reality: Demographic winter”.   There It talked about How the birth rates in the last 50 years have dropped considerably. That because of this unless something is done then we will soon see the consequences. To start this, we will have to look at the end of World War 2. There at that time when the soldiers came home was known as the baby boom. We don’t know why this came to be, but we know that it did. Now though the world is very different than in the 20 th century. Many changes that happened in the 20 th century somewhat contribute to where we are now. That is the fertility rate of women has gone down considerably in the last 50 years. Not just in the United States but all over the world. Now when I say fertility, I mean how many children a women will have in her lifetime. Now...
